  • Clearing a vegan cider

Hey guys, haven't been around here much lately.

Here's my problem, I made a cider for my vegan daughter-in-law from some honey crisp apple cider I found at Trader Joes. Can't seem to get it to clear. I placed the 3 gal carboy in the fridge for a week and nothing happened. I then tried using pectic enzyme thinking the cider was pasteurized and pectins may have been set. It is still cloudy beyond reason. What other non-animal product finings are there that could be useful here. I have bentonite, would that work? Any help would be appreciated.

I think you need more cold and time. I have one on tap at the moment that took maybe a month to clear.

Polyclar is a vegan safe fining agent.

Thanks for the response. I forgot about polyclar. I will try that and cold and we'll see what happens. This will be bottled.
